Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the American Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo sessions for decades. Guests from all of the nearby states load up in trucks and visit Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a landmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court the year before. From that time, 23 of the 39 Amerindian tribes of Oklahoma have introduced gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gambling rules, and today run 10 gambling dens of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were built on. Electronic games such as one armed bandits were not permitted, because they’re thought to lead to gambling problems more than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law has altered to permit enormous Native gambling casinos. You will now see Native casinos with slot machines, video poker and vingt-et-un tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Native casinos as of yet, although this is simply a waiting game. Nobody can say whether having other gambling hall games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
