A lot has been talked in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the anti smoking law in England. Things have become so bad that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded massive aid to help keep the businesses afloat. However will the internet version of this quintessential game present a escape, or will it in no way compare to its land based equivalent?

Bingo is an familiar game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had seen a recent return in appeal with younger men and women opting to hit the bingo halls instead of the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the enacting of the anti cigarette law around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes at the same time marking numbers. From the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most favorite places where people enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo halls. Players have plummeted and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did all the players go? Surely they haven’t deserted this established game?

The answer is on the web. People realise that they can gamble on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beer and fag and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course gambling on on the internet is unlikely to replace the communal portion of going down to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the law has left a number of bingo players with no choice.
