An abundance has been talked in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt because of the cigarette ban in Britain. Things have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive aid to help keep the industry afloat. However can the net version of this quintessential game present a salvation, or might it not compare to its real life peer?

Bingo has been an ancient game historically enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game lately had experienced a recent return in appeal with younger members of society opting to go to the bingo parlors in place of the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be reversed with the enforcement of the smoking ban throughout United Kingdom.

No more will enthusiasts be allowed to smoke while marking off their numbers. Starting in the summer of ‘07 every public place will not be allowed to permit smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored places where many people like to puff on cigarettes.

The results of the cigarette ban can already be observed in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo halls. Profits have plunged and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where have the players gone? Obviously they have not deserted this classic game?

The answer is on the internet. People are now realizing that they can enjoy bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a drink and smoke and still enjoy massive prizes. This is a recent development and has happened just about perfectly with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course playing on the internet could never replace the social aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of men and women the governing edicts have left a lot of bingo enthusiasts with no option.
