An abundance has been reported in the press just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hit as a result of the smoking ban in Britain. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But will the online adaptation of this classic game provide a reprieve, or will it never compare to its land based kin?

Bingo is an familiar game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. In any case the game recently had witnessed a recent return in appeal with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo parlors instead of the discos on a Friday night. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the enacting of the smoking ban throughout UK.

No longer will gamblers be able to smoke while marking numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public place will no longer be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most favored places where people enjoy smoking.

The results of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo parlors. Profits have plunged and the business is absolutely fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they haven’t deserted this age old game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers realize that they can bet on bingo using their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent anomaly and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course betting on on the web is unlikely to replace the social part of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a good many bingo players with little alternative.
