An abundance has been reported in the press not long ago about the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in Britain. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to assist in keeping the businesses afloat. However can the web version of this classic game provide a lifeline, or might it not compare to its real life equivalent?

Bingo has been an age old game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game of late had witnessed a recent increase in appeal with younger people deciding to visit the bingo halls instead of the bars on a Friday night. This is all about to change with the enforcement of the smoking ban all over United Kingdom.

No more will players be permitted to smoke while marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public locations will not be allowed to permit smoking in their venues and this includes Bingo halls, one of the most favored areas where players like to smoke.

The results of the smoking ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already forbidden in the bingo parlors. Profits have dropped and the industry is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Surely they haven’t cast aside this enduring game?

The answer is on the net. Players realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and fag and in the end, enjoy monstrous jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.

Of course wagering on on the net is unlikely to replace the collective part of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the governing edicts have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no option.
