Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. This is due to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for decades. Guests from many of the surrounding states load up in passenger cars and travel to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the 39 Indian tribes located in Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the first Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the gaming restrictions, and at this time operate ten gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were founded. Electronic games like slot machines weren’t allowed, on the grounds that they’re believed to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma rules have changed to allow for enormous American Indian wagering casinos. You’ll now find Native casinos with slot machines, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not yet authorized in the Native gambling dens as of yet, but that is simply a matter of time. No one can say with what having other gambling hall games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
